Yesterday, GACKT tweeted for the first time in two months. He was only online for an hour, but managed to tweet in Japanese, Chinese and English and also ~~eventually~~ updated his profile to have a BEST OF THE BEST theme.

GACKT's BEST OF THE BEST tour rolled into Omiya on Wednesday, May 15th and his good friend SUGIZO was there for the show!

Several days ago, I went to GACKT's live in Omiya.

My sworn friend's solo act since long ago was amazingly excellent. He is indeed great! SGZ

GACKT confirmed in his recent blog that he lost a few TV appearances (FNS Uta Natsu Matsuri and MUSIC FAIR, to name two that we know of) because of the recent story that appeared in the tabloids and the reaction to it of some nervous TV stations and sponsors.

Many fans are upset about this and there has been a petition going around for the last few days asking Fuji TV to reinstate GACKT to the FNS line up. It is now at over 1,000 signatures so if you haven't signed it already, here's the link - English navigation

The support GACKT has received from his fans over this issue and also the general comments have been noticed by the mainstream media and Yahoo Japan posted an article about this here.

I translated this last night and posted it in my own journal, but decided to share it with the entire community.
This is apparently a digest of what he posted in his own blog, so once that has been translated, you all should definitely check it out, there's a lot more written there (as well as in Nico Blomaga).

How are you all?

First time in a long while here on LINE.
I'm about to leave the hotel near the venue.
We have a live in Omiya today.

So.
The reason why I'm updating LINE after a long absence is the article on FLASH that was issued yesterday.

Do you know FLASH?
Well, it's a tabloid magazine...
They reported that
I imprisoned, battered, and raped a female hostess several years ago...

Their idea is... what should I say, eccentric....?
I can't believe how much they can fabricate a story.
I was beyond angry, so appalled that my jaw almost came off.
Their content reads like an erotic novel.

They came out with their story to go against my tour.
Clearly they're trying to sell a lot of copies.
But there's nothing more disrespectful than this.

I can understand that using me leads to selling many copies.
I know that tabloids are desperate because their sales are dropping.
But isn't this just a bad cycle spiraling down?

To sell, they keep reporting exaggerated lies.
People stop believing them.
They have to write even more hurtful things in order to sell more copies.
That ends up in less sales, and ultimately their cancellation.

So uncool..........

In the first place,
if it's true that I battered, imprisoned, and raped a woman several years ago, wouldn't the police have made a move right away and arrested me?

And this woman that calls herself the victim....
Well, to go back a little, she suddenly demanded that I pay her 10,000,000 yen (about $100K) by handing us a letter riddled with lies.
Isn't this so-called racketeering/blackmailing?
There's really a limit to how far you can go.

I answered her through a lawyer,
"Why on earth will I pay you for such complete lies!!?"
There was no further contact from her...
But then it turned up through the tabloid.... What in the....?

The article states that she's simply asking for an apology, but hey hey, the first thing you did was demand money, was it not?

Listen.
Since there's this convenient thing called LINE,
I'm gonna say this loud and clear,
so all of you in the world, clean out your ears and listen to me well, OK?

"I'm doing just fine with women, I have no need to tie up a resisting woman and satisfy my need~~!!!!"

Do I seem like such a despicable man?

If I do......

I will polish up on being a man a bit more.
Ahahaha.

What in the world is this fuss anyway?

I decided to fight them by hiring 3 excellent lawyers this time.
Even I couldn't let this one go.
I can endure a whole lot, but being accused of brutality is....
Give me a break, really.

I wrote the details of the truth in my blog, so you can read that.
I've also included a portion of the response letter from my lawyer (to the woman).
This is just way too dumb......

I debated for a long time about whether to post this or not as I do not want to give the story any publicity. But, there is a news item about it on GACKT's OHP and I feel that it's better that GACKT's fans hear about it from other GACKT fans, instead of from another source that may troll or take enjoyment from the story.

The tabloid FLASH magazine has printed a story about GACKT today. There is a firm denial of the story on his OHP and also threats of legal action against the magazine and possibly the woman involved.

The story is accusing GACKT of raping a woman.

[A few more details - cut for any possible triggers]

The story is that in September 2011, GACKT and two friends went to a hostess bar. GACKT didn't drink as he had a live two days later, but he brought many drinks for the hostesses. When his car arrived to pick him up, he asked a hostess to accompany him home. She declined but he took her home by force. Sexual contact happened in the car and later at his home over a course of six hours. He allegedly hit her.

It was reported to the police in November 2012.

There are other details both from this source and other sources but I really don't want to get into details too much.

Again, GACKT and his office are firmly denying this.

I have no idea if this story is going to blow up or blow over. I know that all Japanese tabloids are terrible, but I don't know exactly how terrible FLASH is. The Japanese fans don't seem too stressed about it from what I've seen on Twitter, so I'm going to lean towards FLASH not being particularly believable.

I'm the admin of the English GACKT-Fansubteam “SubYouHappy” and I need your help. I thought this community may be a help for me.^^
I'm looking for a new translator for my team. We already have one, but she is currently very busy with her studies and cannot translate so much. That's why I'm looking for an another and an additional translator. Is there someone who is interested in joining us?

Here are a few details about the fansubteam and what we sub:

That's the name of the Fansubteam. It was founded early last year. It was created by Fans for Fans, so it's not an official thing, you know?!

In which language should be the translation?

The Part as Translator
First … the whole working on the subtitles is just a hobby! The subs are for FREE!
The translator will get a link to a video. With this video he/she would make a translation and write it in a Word-file.
Japanese listening comprehension ist VERY IMPORTANT!
We are searching translators especially for bigger projects, for example the Platinum Boxes. Videos with a length of 1 hour or more. But we will also do smaller projects, videos around 10-20 minutes.
The translator should have fun, interested in translating, and -if possible- should also have interest in GACKT (that's why I post it in this community^^).
Of course it's understandable if you don't have so much time sometimes, because of your work, study or private matters. It's no problem! It's just a hobby!

The first show of GACKT's BEST OF THE BEST vol.1 M / W tour was yesterday in Tokyo and some photos have already made it online!

There are two different setlists for the tour titled MILD and WILD. Yesterday, was the MILD setlist.

GACKT'S BEST OF THE BEST Vol. 1 -MILD- & GACKT'S BEST OF THE BEST Vol. 1 -WILD- will be released on July 03, 2013, and each will consist of one the next versions:

[Al + Blu-Ray] ¥5,040
[Al + DVD] ¥4,410

And for those who want to buy both albums together:

BONUSES:
According to Amazon Japan, the bonuses for the blu-ray box set will be a B3 booklet, 10 clear cards and stickers.

HMV says the Blu-ray box set will have the 6 clear cards bonus. Nothing for the DVD box set.

There you go! GACKT's best as chosen by us! A good mix of new and old and just imagine a concert set list of that top 20...

There were 78 different songs nominated. GACKT has recorded 112 unique songs (I think) so that means 69% of them were voted for. 69%. Couldn't have been any other number, could it?

From the start Last Song was winning, but for a few days Cube was number one. Last Song retook the lead though and won quite comfortably in the end.

For the release dates of non-singles, I used the album release date. Some songs may have been released as B-sides beforehand, but I took the album dates anyway.

The votes and comments in the voting post are now all unscreened so please take a look! There were some wonderful comments about some of the songs.

Throughout the duration of the BEST OF THE BEST Vol. 1 MILD & WILD tour we'll be running different polls so look forward to them!

[news] FNS and Tour Updates!

With less than three days before the new tour starts, there are a few news updates to cover!

Firstly GACKT will be one of many artists appearing at "FNS Uta no Natsu Matsuri" on July 31st from Yoyogi.

It's a four hour music programme that will feature other artists such as EXILE, TM Revolution, Koda Kumi, SMAP and many others. It will be broadcast on Fuji TV on July 31st.

There are a couple of magazines due in May, including an interview and cover shoot in OUT of MUSIC Vol. 25 (out May 30th)

GACKT updated his Nico Nico blog and OHP blog with some photos from recent rehearsals. You can see GACKT, band and staff members all wearing the staff tour T shirts.

CHACHA, Sato and Kei all tweeted about some shooting a couple of days ago and then Sato mentioned in a later tweet that a MV (music video) shoot had happened... TAKUMI has again been tweeting recently about working on the arrangement of some songs with GACKT

GACKT visited the offices of Sanae Takaichi, a politician who was once the Minister of State for Okinawa. The visit happened in March (hence the hair) but the photo has only recently been uploaded.

[news] Chokaigi, ASIA VERSUS and rehearsals

As posted before, GACKT attended Nico Nico's Chokaigi event. His companion was Takeshi Nakano, the CEO of the jewellery company GemCEREY. Nakano-san has updated his blog with some photos and details from the event.

Some photos have been shared of GACKT with Reino Barack, who appears to be a new Indonesian judge on the ASIA VERSUS panel.

And of course, rehearsals for the BEST OF THE BEST TOUR that kicks off on May 11th (soooo close!) are still continuing.

Sato and Kei have been giving us daily updates via their Twitter of when each day's training and rehearsal has finished, and KAZUYA has posted a couple of interesting photos.

To celebrate the forthcoming BEST OF THE BEST Vol.1 Tour, OGYD will be running a few of our own BEST OF THE BEST selections.

Our first selection will concentrate on GACKT’s songs!

We want you to pick your top 10 GACKT solo songs. We will then collate the votes to find out what is OGYD’s BEST OF THE BEST.

Rules!
1. Pick your ten favourite songs – they can be singles, album tracks or B-sides but must be solo songs (no MALICE MIZER or YFCz)
2. Place them in order, from 1 to 10. This is important for the scoring!
3. You can write a list of song titles or include reasons why you have chosen the songs. If you give reasons we may use them when we announce the results.
4. The deadline is May 8th, 17:00 (Japan time). Results will be posted asap after the deadline.

Scoring System
The order is important because we will take that into account when collating the results. A song placed first will get ten points. Second, gets nine points, third gets eight points and so on down to the tenth song that will receive one point.

maybe its just my imagination and im picturing him everywhere but did i see gackt in this preview? for just a brief second on the wolverine trailer i thought i saw gackt - around the one minute mark

anyone confirm? he's not listed on the credits but that doesnt mean anything and his twitter implied he might has a small cameo (or is he trolling us??)

This weekend Nico Nico are holding their second Chokaigi event at Makuhari Messe and today (April 27th), GACKT joined the 12,000 people who attended.

GACKT also appeared on the 8+ hours live broadcast that Nico Nico broadcast from the venue.

In other news....

Yesterday, GACKT appeared on Bokura no Ongaku alongside Golden Bomber. Golden Bomber were the focus of the show and performed three songs, but all of their talk segments also featured GACKT ~~doing most of the talking while Golden Bomber hung on his every word~~

Yesterday also saw the second episode of ASIA VERSUS. The ASIA VERSUS episodes are available to watch on the ASIA VERSUS OHP immediately after the show finishes so check them out!

GACKT updated his Nico Nico blog and also his OHP blog with news of last minute meetings in China and filming videos for the upcoming tour.

And of course, tour rehearsals are continuing!

CHACHA, YOU, Sato and dancers Kazuya, Takashi and Ryo all went out for a meal together after their rehearsals finished on Day 6 (April 26th)

THE BEST OF THE BEST Vol. 1 page on gackt.com is asking for our help!

GACKT wants to know which song fits different situations the best. Songs that rank highly may appear on the Best Album that is currently being recorded.

The form is all in Japanese, and details many situations...

1. A song to listen to when driving
2. A song to listen to when you have a broken heart
3. A song to listen to when facing a new challenge
4. A song to always sing at karaoke
5. A song to listen to when you have a new love
6. A song to listen to at night, to sleep to
7. A song to listen to when feeling sad
8. A song to listen to when you want to be energetic
9. A song to listen to when you're feeling happy
10. A song to listen to with family
11. A song to listen to when tired
12. A song to listen to in a bad situation
13. A song to listen to when feeling lonely
14. A song that is difficult to sing
15. A song to listen to with a lover

The form is here - FORM!!!

The first box is your name (nickname is okay)
The second box is your DEARS membership number (if you aren't a member it is okay to leave this blank)
And then each song selection has two boxes - the smaller box is for the song title and the bigger box is for your reason.
The only mandatory box is your name, so you can complete the form without any reasons and leave spaces blank, if you want.

Deadline is 4/30, 12pm (Japanese time)

Golden Bomber will be the feature of a forthcoming 僕らの音楽 (Bokura no Ongaku) programme and they have a special guest lined up for their show...

GACKT's spot was filmed today and he will be talking with Golden Bomber on the show.

It will be broadcast on Fuji TV, 4/26 at 23:30.
